The purpose of this study is to discuss practical measures for Environmental and Sustainable Development Education (ESD) centered on the music curriculum. To this end, the study examined the background of the emergence of ESD, which is emphasized in the 2022 revised curriculum. It then analyzed the ecological environment-related content highlighted in the nature of the music curriculum and achievement standards, as well as its relevance to cross-curricular learning themes. As a result, it was found that selecting and teaching musical pieces that embody an ecological perspective from music formed across various eras, societies, and cultural spheres is effective for guiding ESD. Therefore, as a measure for cross-curricular learning, Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, which encompasses both the environmental and socio-cultural categories of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD), was selected as teaching content. Furthermore, the study identified items among Korea's and the world's intangible cultural heritage that can be taught in conjunction with the ecological environment and presented an integrated education plan. This study is significant in that it expands the scope of ecological environment education based on Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity while simultaneously devising measures to enable ESD centered on the music curriculum.
